Gotta Run
Thursday, October 21, 2004
I started running again Tuesday. I had stopped for about 3 or 4 weeks. Here is how it all started. A few months back I started running to:
1) Increase my Cardiovascular endurance (in case I have to run from the cops).
2) Regain the six pack I swear I once had.
3) Feel like I am doing something healthy
4) Watch the same scenery over and over as I circle the lake by our house.
Anyway, I started with about 2 miles 2 times a week. Then, I ran 3 days a week. Finally, I picked up an extra mile so I was running 3 miles 3 times a week. Sounds great, huh? Now for the bad news. After the first couple times I ran 3 miles my leg fell off. No seriously, I started chafing. I figured ahh, it must just be the heat. So, I finished the week and ran the next week. Bad idea. I won't go into anymore detail, but it was not comfortable.
Next thing you know, I had not run in a few weeks. I have been very anxious to get back out there. Finally, Tuesday, against all odds (sounds more dramatic) I started running again. Being very paranoid of the chafe monster I decided to start back with just a mile. Today I ran only a mile again. So far so good. I would really like to pick up at least a 1 more mile, but I am really nervous.

Heh, he said "chafing." Man, if you just push through the pain, it will finally go away. When I started unicycling ... you can bet I chafed. It happened because I was gripping the seat with my thighs. You're not gripping anything -- are you? :-p
