The Reunion dilemma
Saturday, October 30, 2004
Apparantly 10 years has gone by since I graduated High School. Okay no biggie, except I feel kind of old now. I know that sounds lame, but think about it. 10 years ago I was in the prime of my youth and felt physically capable of anything. I never really thought I would ever get old. Somehow I believed that I would remain young in some regard forever.
Well, I am still pretty athletic and am young in many ways. However, it requires more motivation to make up for lack of energy, willpower to overcome complacency and caffeine to get out of the house at 6:30 in the morning. I know, "Quit your bitching, such is life".
Anyway, it was brought to my attention a few months back that my High School Reunion was coming up. I hadn't realy given much thought to whether I would go or not. My good friend Candice suggested I should go, and that it would be cool for me to see people I hadn't seen since High School.
[Problem]
1) I live in Virginia and the reunion is in California
2) I thought until just recently that I would not be able to attend the actual reunion because I left mid junior year and graduated from another school.
3) It is now exactly one week away and I haven't really planned well for it.
Maybe these are not major problems but they are definintely obstacles. Since the reunion is on a Saturday I could actually fly out next friday night in time for the Reunion. I found out that since the high school is not actually responsible for putting on the reunion, I would be able to attend with no problem.
So, with all this being said, I have less than a week to make a decision as to whether or not I will be attending my 10 year High School Reunion.

At least the person who planned your 10 year reunion didn't pick Thanksgiving weekend to have it like ours did. We missed out thanks to the moron who planned ours.
I think your only real obstacle is timing. Getting a plane ticket to California on such short notice could be pricey. Otherwise, I think you should go for it...you would have a lot of good stuff to share.
Welcome to the blogging "community" by the way ;-)

1. The reunion would have been in California whether you planned well in advance or not.
2. Finding out that you can attend should be exciting, not stressful.
3. Whether you planned 3 months ago or 3 days from now, you would have the same time pressures. Seems to me that money is the only real issue.
4. This is the only ten-year high school reunion you will ever have. Isn't it worth a little discomfort?
Buck up Noah. I have never known you to be someone who backs down from a challenge. This may be the best thing you have done for YOURSELF in a long, long time.
-Candice...I'll hope to see you there.
Its going to be lame and boring. I suggest not going. Happiness is staying at home and playing with toys you bought with the extra money you had because you didn't go out.
