Month #2, Week #4: A test of endurance
Sunday, February 26, 2006
This week was unusually tough for running. For no reason in particular, I struggled to make my 5 mile runs. The weather was cold, but not too cold. Scheduling time to run was difficult, but not impossible. Motivation was low, but not non-exsistent. Maybe the combination of all those things made the experience tougher than it needed to be.
My toughest challenge lies ahead. I will now begin 6 miles 2 times a week for the next 2 weeks. I have never trained to that distance. I realize it is not exactly a giant leap for mankind, but it will be a significant accomplishment for one Noah DiCenso. I honestly believe that I need to be running 3 days a week instead of 2. It seems like when I run a Mon/Wed schedule, the 4 days off until the next run is too much time. I am gonna try and squeeze in a 3rd run day this week. I probably won't run full distance. In fact, I may just try and run for speed on the third day and just go for 2 miles. I hope I don't over-do-it this close to the race.
