Ain't that the truth

Amanda Yeager brings up some good points in a recent blog entry. She talks about rememering who you are, being that person and being happy about it. To piggy-back on her thoughts, I would have to agree. It is too easy to get caught up in the have and have-not of life. The more material things you have, the more you have to complain about. Like when something breaks or gets stolen or lost. It is important to take a step back and just appreciate everything for what it is.

I have a lot to be thankful for and often fail to recognize that. I have wonderful family and friends who should be reminded that they are appreciated. I have a good job, doing work that I enjoy. And I have many of the things now that I always wanted when I was a kid. It just took 30 years to get them.

I am a driven person and I am constantly striving to reach the next level in life. But, to what end? What is my final goal? It is hard for me to slow down and enjoy the scenery.

Coincidentally, today is my 6 year wedding anniversary. I am also thankful for that. It has been a rough road at times, but the longer you drive it the better you understand the bumps, twists and turns.

In honor of Mrs. Yeager's words and to twist the words of AC/DC, I say, "For those who know they rock, I salute you."
