Home-a-rama

We decided to go check out Homearama today. My Mom gave us some tickets. Thanks Mom! It took place in Ocean View. Seemed a little weird to go to Ocean View to see Homearama. They call the area East Beach. Anyway, it was actually pretty cool. There were some really nice houses. Unfortunately, they are about 10 feet apart. I can understand that in regular housing development communities (even though I still think it sucks), but not in million dollar houses on the beach. Most of the houses were between 3,000 and 5,000 sq. ft. I really liked some of the larger houses. many of them had guest houses that they called carriage houses. they were over a detached garage or attached through an enclosed walkway. I really wasnt impressed with the actual size of many of the extra bedrooms. they were not much larger than our extra bedrooms. Of course, almost all the houses had Kick Ass kitchens and Bathrooms.

I think the house that we liked best was House 8. It was almost 5,000 sq. ft. This house was very spacious. It had a nice open floor plan and many ammenities which you can read about from the previous link. Two of my favorite features were the third floor being totally dedicated to being the home theater room. Awesome! But wait there's more; from the third floor theater room you can access some pull down stairs and go up into a lookout. it is a cozy square room on the top of the house surrounded by windows. You could go up in there and read or whatever. I loved it.

Reality check. What are the chances of me being able to build a house like this somewhere? whew... That is a tough question. I think it is really possible. It is going to take a few (like 15) more years, but I think it is totally possible. I am going to have to cut back on the Caramel Machiatos and frequent technology purchases. Then, just maybe, I too can build a house like that. If you thought about going to see Homearama, do it. It is definitely cool to go even if you just want to get interior decorating ideas.

Noah DiCenso ~1978~It is true. This was me when I was 2 years old. Like it or not, I was the descendant of two hippy parents and had the long hair to prove it. I was living somewhere back east at the time. It was either Maine or Pennsylvania. My parents owned a Health Food restaurant somewhere downtown. Apparently a reporter for a local health food paper captured the photo of me peeing on the sidewalk in my leather sandals. The picture was published in the paper.

I have tried for about a year to track down the actual source of the photo. I know the photographer's name was Betty Bennett. Of course this had to have been around 1978, so finding her if she is still alive will be a challenge. I actually found the website of a photographer who was Betty Bennett's protege. She stated that Betty had passed on but it is possible she had taken my photo 26 years ago.

I gave her as much info about the photo as I could come up with including news print info on the back of the piece of newspaper I have containing the photo. She stated that she was the curator of the late Betty Bennett's collection of work. She seemed really excited that she might actually be able to find an original for me. Of course, I was really excited too. I followed up a couple of times. Never with any real luck. Oh well, I guess it gave me something to hope for. BTW - the version of the photo shown here is the result of me scanning a 26 year old newsprint and performing extensive photoshop restoration on it.
