A proud father

Friday, October 07, 2005

Today, Skyler had a lesson learning/teaching experience on the school bus. On the way home from school there was a boy sitting a couple rows in front of Skyler. There were girls teasing the boy. They were telling the boy he was ugly. Skyler changed seats and sat with the boy. Skyler told the boy that he wasn't ugly and that it didn't matter what other people said anyway. The boy told Skyler thank you and said he didn't feel ugly anymore. I wish I were that mature sometimes.

So what is the moral of this story? I have no idea, but it was vey moving. Seriously though, it makes me very proud to have such wonderful children who have peaceful and caring souls. Okay, sometimes Gauge and Skyler fight like it's a title match, but they are really awesome kids.

Your Mom called

Wednesday, October 05, 2005

That's right! Your mom called and said she won't be able to come in and clean up after you today. However, she was hoping that for once, you could do it yourself. I mean seriously folks, at what age do you make the effort to pick up after yourself? Or is it just that you figure somebody else will do it?

Okay, so here is the rant: We have a really nice office now with some kick a$$ amenities(plasma TV, Playstation, Full kitchen, Snack & Soda machine, Media Center PC, etc). The decor is nice and the interior is newly remodeled. What more could you ask for besides maybe a shower and a b-ball hoop out back? Many of us have our own offices and nice furniture.

We could be working back on the naval base in tight quarters with no windows again. That would really suck. So, I appreciate this office and all that it offers. But, apparently there are some folks that don't. Or at least not enough to clean up after themselves. WTF? It is not like you have to clean the bathrooms or empty your own trash can (as if that would be so bad). It is basic responsibility. Don't leave $hit laying around until it grows mold (duh!). If you make trash, throw it away. If you use dishes, wash them. If you put stuff in the refrigerator, check once in a while to see if you left anything in there.

But don't worry, your mom will probably be by sometime this week to clean up behind you... ...nuff said

Neptune Festival

Monday, October 03, 2005

King Neptune This weekend, Sunday to be exact, we took a trip down to Virginia Beach. Me made a family trip out of it. Except, we left the family four legger at home. We headed down to the boardwalk to check out the Neptune Festival. There were a lot of local vendors selling their own art. There was a lot of cool stuff. Unfortunately it seemed to be a bit pricey for what you were getting. But hey, that's art.

Also, we were lucky enough to get some Smokin Butts BBQ. Those folks make a damn good BBQ sandwich. I would high;y recommend them if you like pork BBQ. We stopped by the 31st stage they had setup and listened to some local band jammin it up. The band had a female vocalist who had a great voice. I never did catch the name of the band, but they sounded pretty good.

Skyler, rock climbingIn other news, Skyler conquered the rock wall climb. Not once, but twice. We tried to convince Gauge to climb the wall, but he wasn't having it. Skyler is definitely more of the thrill seeker. Gauge is a little more chill unless you make him mad.
